Skin Care Before and After Holi
Holi Skin Care
Before Playing Holi
The dry “Gulal” and the wet colours of today contain chemicals, shiny particles of mica and even lead, as well as powdered glass, acids and alkalis. These substances affect the skin adversely, leading to allergies, itching, rash, pimples or dryness.
Holi is played out of doors. So protect your skin from the sun. Apply sunscreen 20 minutes before going out in the sun, on the face, neck and arms. We recommend Total Care All Day Long Sun Block SPF 25. If your skin is prone to pigmented patches, Total Care All Day Long Sun Block SPF 40. For oily skin, apply Total Care All Day Long Sunscreen Gel SPF 20.
Wait for a few minutes and then apply Shabase sandalwood cream mixed with Shamoist for dry skin and Shabase mixed with Shasilk matte moisturiser for oily skin
For the hair, apply leave on conditioner or hair serum before playing Holi. This protects the hair from the effects of sun exposure and dryness caused by colours. Take very little, spread on both palms and massage light into the hair, or smooth palms over the hair. Hair creams containing sunscreen are also available.
After Holi
The real problem is removal of colours after playing holi.
Rinse the face with plenty of plain water and then use Shacleanse Plus Cleansing gel, containing aloe vera and lemon cleansing cream for normal to dry skin, Shamoon sandalwood cleansing milk for combination skin, Tulsi Neem Face Wash for normal to oily skin and Shazema medicated cleanser for acne prone skin.
Sesame seed (til) oil can be used to remove colours from the body, massaging it on the skin. This not only helps to remove the colours, sesame seed (til) oil actually helps to counteract sun-damage. While bathing, scrub the body gently with a loofah or wash cloth.
Immediately after your bath, apply Shamoist Plus or Neem Rehydrant Lotion on the face and body, while the skin is still damp. This helps to seal in moisture.
